We thought we’d share this small true story with you as an example of the types of traumas and daily struggles that most children of addicted parent(s) experience on a daily basis, often multiple times a day, each and every day.
Coming up over the next two days is our micro-series looking at overcoming trust issues and repairing infidelity in our relationships with others who may be still using, drinking or in recovery or those who help us as addicts, even if we are still using, drinking or in recovery.
It’s not easy, it takes a second to damage a relationship and time, effort and action to repair them.
These articles should be able to help you with that!…
As a parent, you are the biggest influence in your child’s life and having open, honest conversations is one of the most powerful ways to connect with your kids and help them develop into healthy adults that are aware of drugs, alcohol & understanding the concept & principles of addiction. When addressing some more challenging topics – like nicotine, alcohol or drugs, it’s not about having a one-time “drug or alcohol talk,” but rather tackling the subject through more frequent, organic and open conversations that evolve as your child gets older.
