Drug Use Isn’t Just Bad For Humans – It’s Impacting Animals And Marine Life Too

A new study has shed light on how drugs taken by humans can affect fish. The study showed that brown trout exposed to methamphetamine in their water changed their behaviour, brain function and had long term effects upon their behaviour and natural processes.

Around 269 million people worldwide use drugs each year, and the byproducts end up in our sewers. Sewage treatment plants don’t routinely filter out drugs. One study estimates it’d cost over £36 million to upgrade wastewater treatment plants to remove these chemicals in England and Wales alone.

In a recent study published in the Journal of Experimental Biology, researchers in the Czech Republic investigated how methamphetamine – a stimulant with a growing number of users worldwide – might be affecting wild brown trout.

They examined whether concentrations of methamphetamine and one of its byproducts, amphetamine, which were estimated from other studies that have measured illicit drug concentrations in waterways, could be detected in the brains of brown trout. They also looked at whether these concentrations were enough to cause the animals to become addicted.

To find out what the full results of this study show, how it may affect you and what you can do to help can all be found inside our article!

That’s why reading this article and sharing it with others could save more lives that you may realise, simply by spending it 30 seconds sharing it with others!…

Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch Council Is The Number 1 Worst Council Anywhere In The UK For Their Constant Bashing & Lack Of Support For Their Homeless & Rough Sleeping Communities

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council are the worst council in the UK for looking after it’s population of homeless and rough sleeping communities.

In 2015, the Council played music from Alvin and the Chipmunks and bagpipes to deter rough sleepers at Bournemouth coach station.
Again in June 2016, the Council bought one-way train tickets for rough sleepers to move them out the area.

Bournemouth, Poole And Christchurch Council has been targeting our local community of homeless and rough sleeping community going right back to 2015 and even before then.

Local charities, groups and organisations who help those who are homeless or rough sleeping have been carrying out absolutely amazing work within our community, however the council haven’t always had the best interests of the homeless in mind when deciding what to do within the town and its surrounding areas.

At the time of posting this article, BCP Council have not responded to our multiple requests for their opinions or comments about this issue.

Recognising Drug And Alcohol Addiction As A Medical Condition & Not A Choice Or Moral Failing

One of the difficulties in recognising drug and alcohol addiction as a disease is it just doesn’t seem like one initially in comparison to others such as diabetes, stroke or blindness.

It doesn’t look, sound, smell and it certainly doesn’t act like a disease. To make matters worse, generally, it denies it exists and resists treatment to the very last second before treatment begins.

Drug and alcohol addiction has been recognised for many years by professional medical organisations such as the NHS, research institutions and leading addiction charities, groups and organisations as a primary, chronic, progressive and also unfortunately sometimes a fatal disease too.

How The Terms We Use In Addiction And Recovery Matter And How To Overcome This Vital Issue

What we say and how we say it has an enormous impact on ourselves and others. For example, saying substance abuse instead of substance use disorder can create the feeling that they are choosing to use/drink and that it can be a moral failing.

The results inside, along with downloadable media, studies, reports, tips and ideas to overcome this barrier many face before or whilst deciding whether to enter and accept help in recovery.
We have lost so many lives from this which could have otherwise been saved. Lets not loose anymore people unnecessarily just because of this issue.
